CONTRAINDICATIONS

BEFORE YOUR VISIT

CONTRAINDICATIONS & SAFETY

Your wellbeing is always our priority. Our wellness treatments are designed to support relaxation, recovery and overall wellbeing, but heat and compression therapies may not be suitable for everyone.

If you have an existing medical condition, are taking medication, have recently undergone surgery or are unsure whether a treatment is suitable for you, we recommend speaking with your doctor or healthcare professional before your visit.

Please listen to your body throughout your treatment and stop immediately if you begin to feel unwell.

INFRARED SAUNA

Infrared sauna uses infrared heat to gently warm the body and create a deeply relaxing heat experience.

PLEASE CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE USING AN INFRARED SAUNA IF YOU HAVE:

  • A cardiovascular or circulatory condition

  • High or low blood pressure

  • Diabetes or neuropathy

  • A condition affecting your ability to regulate body temperature

  • Epilepsy or a history of seizures

  • Kidney disease

  • Recently undergone an operation or sustained a significant injury

  • An implanted electronic or medical device

  • A condition for which you are currently receiving medical treatment

  • Been prescribed medication that may affect your heart rate, blood pressure, circulation, hydration, sweating or ability to regulate body temperature

INFRARED SAUNA MAY NOT BE SUITABLE IF YOU:

  • Are pregnant

  • Have a fever, acute infection or are currently feeling unwell

  • Are under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs

  • Have an open wound or active contagious skin condition

  • Have significantly reduced sensitivity to heat

  • Have an acute or unstable cardiovascular condition

  • Have been medically advised to avoid heat exposure

ALCOHOL & HYDRATION

Please arrive well hydrated and alcohol-free.

Alcohol can impair the body's ability to regulate temperature and may increase the risk of dehydration, dizziness or fainting. Guests who appear intoxicated may be refused treatment for their own safety.

DURING YOUR SESSION

Infrared sauna should feel warm and relaxing — there is no need to push yourself to remain in the sauna if you become uncomfortable.

Stay hydrated, move slowly when standing or leaving the sauna and listen to how your body feels.

If you experience dizziness, nausea, unusual shortness of breath, chest discomfort, weakness or feel otherwise unwell, leave the sauna and seek assistance from a member of the team.

PRESSOTHERAPY

Our Pressotherapy treatment uses Normatec dynamic air compression to rhythmically compress the legs, creating a relaxing massage-like experience often enjoyed as part of a recovery and wellness routine.

PLEASE CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR BEFORE USING PRESSOTHERAPY IF YOU HAVE:

  • A cardiovascular or circulatory condition

  • Severe or uncontrolled high blood pressure

  • Diabetes or neuropathy

  • An arterial or venous condition

  • Kidney, liver or heart disease associated with fluid retention

  • Recently undergone surgery or sustained an injury or fracture affecting the legs

  • New or unexplained swelling, pain, numbness, redness or changes in circulation

  • Any condition for which compression therapy has been restricted or requires medical supervision

LYMPHOEDEMA

Compression is commonly used as part of lymphoedema management, and many guests with lymphoedema may be able to enjoy Pressotherapy where compression is already known to be appropriate for them.

However, if your symptoms have recently changed, you have signs of infection, unexplained swelling or pain, or you have not previously been advised that compression is suitable for you, please speak with your healthcare professional before booking.

PREGNANCY

Pregnancy is not automatically a contraindication to Pressotherapy, and many people may be able to enjoy compression during pregnancy.

However, if you have a high-risk pregnancy, pregnancy-related complications, high blood pressure, sudden or unusual swelling, one-sided leg pain or redness, or have been advised to restrict compression, please consult your midwife or doctor before treatment.

PLEASE DO NOT USE NORMATEC PRESSOTHERAPY IF YOU HAVE:

  • A current or suspected deep vein thrombosis (DVT), blood clot or thrombophlebitis

  • A suspected or recent pulmonary embolism unless medically cleared

  • Severe peripheral arterial disease

  • Acute cellulitis, infection or significant inflammation in the treatment area

  • Open wounds, ulcers or burns in the treatment area

  • An acute fracture or dislocation in the treatment area

  • Severe or uncontrolled heart failure or another condition where increased venous or lymphatic return has been medically advised against

AGE & YOUNGER GUESTS

Guests under 16 should speak with our team before booking and must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Depending on the treatment and individual circumstances, parental or guardian consent and/or medical clearance may be required.

YOUR WELLBEING

This guidance is intended to help you make an informed decision before booking but cannot cover every individual medical circumstance.

Our treatments and facilities are provided for general wellness, relaxation and recovery purposes and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any medical condition.

If you have any concerns about whether a treatment is appropriate for you, please speak with your doctor or healthcare professional before booking.

Most importantly, listen to your body. If something doesn't feel right during your treatment, stop and let a member of our team know.
